What Is LED Light Therapy?

LED Light Therapy, also known as phototherapy, is based on the principle that our skin cells can absorb specific wavelengths of light and convert that energy into enhanced cellular activity. This process is called photobiomodulation.

Light affects our bodies every day. Natural light helps regulate wellbeing, supports vitamin D production and influences many biological processes. While excessive UV exposure damages the skin, carefully controlled Blue, Red and Near Infrared light has been shown in clinical studies to have beneficial effects on skin health and regeneration.

Dermalux® delivers these therapeutic wavelengths deep into the skin where they help to:

  • stimulate cellular energy production
  • accelerate skin repair and renewal
  • reduce inflammation
  • support collagen synthesis
  • improve overall skin function.

Research suggests that energised skin cells can function significantly more efficiently, leading to healthier, brighter and more resilient skin.

What Happens During Treatment?

A typical Dermalux session is simple and comfortable.  Many clients even say it is relaxing.

Your skin is cleansed thoroughly and protective eyewear is provided if required.  The Dermalux panel is then positioned comfortably above the treatment area. You relax for approximately 20–30 minutes while the light is delivered to the skin. We may apply a moisturiser and SPF afterwards.

There is no pain, no needles and no downtime, so you can return to work or daily activities immediately after your appointment.

Dermalux works exceptionally well alongside many other professional skin treatments, including:

  • Microneedling

Using LED phototherapy before or after these treatments can help reduce inflammation, accelerate healing and enhance overall results.
