- How it works - tiny cogs on the thread anchor beneath the skin to gently reposition and lift sagging tissue without cutting.
- Safe and reliable - a CE-marked, medically regulated device with over a decade of clinical use in Europe.
- Biocompatible material - made from a polyester and silicone composite with elasticity similar to skin, long used safely in surgical implants.
- Performed by doctors - carried out under local anaesthetic by our fully trained doctors.
Who can benefit from Spring Thread®?
Spring Thread® is ideal for patients who:
- Have mild to moderate facial sagging
- Wish to improve jawline definition or lift jowls;
- Want longer-lasting results than absorbable threads can provide;
- Are not yet ready for or wish to avoid surgery.
It offers longer-lasting results than temporary treatments like Botox or fillers, without the need for surgical procedures.

What areas can be treated with Spring Thread®?
Spring Thread® can lift and reposition:
- Cheeks and mid-face
- Jawline and jowls
- Nasolabial folds and marionette lines
- Neck and brow line.
The result is a softer, more youthful appearance which doesn't compromise your natural expression.
How does it work?
Spring Thread® is made from a polyester and silicone composite material that is:
- Biocompatible - it has been safely used in surgical implants for decades
- Flexible - with elasticity similar to the skin (around 20%)
- Durable - designed to provide support for 3–5 years or more.
Once inserted just beneath the skin, the thread’s tiny rounded cogs gently anchor the tissue. They are designed to avoid any injury and they reposition your tissues, lifting and holding them.

What to expect during your thread lift procedure
Your Spring Thread® procedure is performed under local anaesthetic and will usual take about an hour, depending on the areas to be treated.
We will start by cleansing and marking up the treatment areas. After this, the threads are inserted via specific, discreet entry points. These are often near the temples or behind the ears. We will use a fine, blunt-tipped needle, which you won't feel as the area will have been numbed.
Once we have the threads in position, we will adjust them to achieve the desired lift. They will then be trimmed and secured.
No cutting or stitching is required and there will be no visible scarring.

Spring Threads® FAQs
What's the downtime after a Spring Thread Lift?
«Recovery from a Spring Thread procedure typically takes 2-3 days. Most patients can return to normal activities within this time frame.
Some minor swelling or bruising may occur, which usually resolves with 7 - 14 days.
How soon will I see results from a Spring Thread Lift?
«Results are visible immediately and continue to improve over the following weeks.
Spring Thread offers long-lasting lifting, which typically lasts 3-5 years. The effects fade gradually with natural aging. Repeat treatments can be performed as needed.
Is Spring Thread® a Safe Procedure?
«Spring Thread® has a strong safety record, based on over a decade of clinical use in Europe. It is a CE-marked medically regulated device.
At CJA Aesthetics, your treatment will be carried out by fully trained doctors with extensive experience in non-surgical lifting techniques.
Is the procedure painful?
«Inserting the threads is virtually painless, as the procedure is carried out under local anaesthetic. You may feel mild tugging, pressure, or movement beneath the skin, but no sharp pain.
If you have any concerns about how the procedure will feel, please discuss this with your doctor at your initial consultation and we will be able to reassure you.
How will I feel after a Spring Thread Lift?
«It's completely normal to experience some tightness after your treatment as the threads gently support and lift the skin into its new position. You may also have some mild soreness or tenderness for the first 2-3 days, which is usually easy to manage with over-the-counter pain relief if needed.
Some swelling, bruising, or slight puckering of the skin can also occur, but these are temporary effect, and typically settle within 5-7 days. Most people find these effects improve quickly, allowing them to enjoy the results as the healing process continues.
At what age should you have a Spring Thread Lift?
«There isn't a specific age that's right for everyone. A Spring Thread Lift is best suited to people who are beginning to notice mild to moderate skin laxity and want to restore a more lifted, youthful appearance without surgery.
Many patients choose this treatment in their 40s, 50s and 60s, but suitability depends much more on the condition of your skin than your age. During your consultation, your practitioner will assess your skin, discuss your concerns and recommend whether a Spring Thread Lift is the best treatment for you or if another option would provide better results.
The goal is to achieve natural-looking results that enhance your features while working with your individual facial structure and stage of ageing.
Can the Spring Threads be removed?
«The threads are designed to stay in permanently - they are made from materials your body tolerates well, so you won't feel them once they are in place.
They are not usually removed, but in the rare event that a complication occurs, an experienced practitioner can take them out.
Are Spring Thread lifts suitable for everyone?
«Spring Thread lifts are suitable for most patients, and there are very few medical contraindications. The main exception is certain autoimmune conditions, which may carry some risk and would need to be discussed with your doctor. We will check your medical history at your initial consultation.
As with any cosmetic procedure, we also consider whether a patient is likely to be happy with the results we can realistically expect, so during your consultation we'll make sure your expectations align with what the treatment can achieve.
Skin type matters too: very thin, highly wrinkled skin, or skin with significant volume and heaviness, may not respond as well to threads alone. In this case your doctor may recommend a different or combined approach to give you the best possible outcome.
Every patient is assessed individually during a full consultation, so we can advise honestly on whether Spring Thread lifting - or an alternative treatment - is right for you.
What results can I expect from a Spring Thread Lift?
«A thread lift helps restore your face's natural, more youthful oval shape. Because the tissue is lifted upward, smile lines, marionette lines (the lines running down from the corners of your mouth), and jowls all become less noticeable. Your face regains its contour while your natural expressions stay fully intact, giving a subtle, natural-looking result.
You'll see a difference straight away, and the results keep improving over the following two months as your body naturally produces collagen around the threads.
What are Spring Threads® made from?
«Spring Threads® are made in France using high-quality medical-grade materials. They have a strong PET (polyethylene terephthalate) core with a soft silicone outer layer, giving them both strength and flexibility for natural-looking results.
The materials are biocompatible, meaning they are designed to be safely accepted by the body, and have been used in medical implants for over 50 years. Spring Threads® are also CE marked and manufactured to strict medical quality standards.
This version is easier for patients to understand while retaining the key information about safety, quality, and composition.
How long will the results of my Spring Thread Lift last?
«A Spring Thread Lift is designed to provide long-lasting results, with most people enjoying the effects for 3 to 5 years, and often longer.
Unlike dissolvable threads, Spring Threads® are made from biocompatible, non-absorbable materials, so they remain in place while your face continues to age naturally. As time goes on, you may choose to have additional threads added to maintain your results, explore other aesthetic treatments, or simply leave the existing threads in place. Your practitioner will be happy to discuss the best option for you as your needs change over time.
What aftercare is needed following a Spring Thread Lift?
«Looking after your skin following a Spring Thread Lift is an important part of achieving the best possible results. Your practitioner will give you personalised aftercare instructions, but in general, you'll need to take things easy for the first few days while your skin begins to heal.
For the first 1–2 weeks, we recommend:
- Sleep on your back with your head slightly elevated for the first few nights.
- Wash your face gently and avoid rubbing or pulling at the skin.
- Apply makeup and wash your hair carefully, avoiding unnecessary pressure on your face.
- Avoid strenuous exercise, heavy lifting, swimming, saunas, steam rooms, and prolonged sun exposure.
- Try not to make exaggerated facial movements, such as wide yawning or chewing very hard foods.
- Delay facial treatments, facial massage, and any non-urgent dental work until your practitioner advises it's safe.
It's normal to experience some mild swelling, bruising, tightness, or tenderness during the first week, and these effects usually settle quickly.
We'll also arrange a follow-up appointment, usually around one week after your treatment, to check your healing and make sure everything is progressing as expected.
