How To Improve Stretch Marks
Stretch Mark Treatments at CJA Clinics in Southampton, Portsmouth & Winchester
Stretch marks are extremely common and affect both women and men. Although they are completely harmless, many people feel self-conscious about the changes they can cause to the appearance and texture of the skin.
CJA Aesthetics Clinics in Southampton, Portsmouth and Winchester offer a range of advanced non-surgical treatments designed to improve the appearance of stretch marks by stimulating the skin’s natural repair processes, increasing collagen production and enhancing overall skin texture and elasticity.
All treatments are carried out under the supervision of Dr Chris Airey, a registered doctor and experienced skin specialist with extensive expertise in non-surgical aesthetic and skin rejuvenation treatments.

What Are Stretch Marks?
Stretch marks (striae) are narrow streaks or lines that develop when the skin is stretched more quickly than its natural elasticity allows. This rapid stretching causes tiny tears within the deeper layers of the skin, particularly in the collagen and elastin fibres that provide structure and support.
Stretch marks commonly develop during:
- Pregnancy
- Rapid weight gain or weight loss
- Puberty and growth spurts
- Bodybuilding or significant muscle growth
- Hormonal changes
- Certain medical conditions or medications that affect the skin
They most frequently appear on the abdomen, breasts, upper arms, buttocks, thighs and hips. Newer stretch marks are often red, pink, purple or blue, while older stretch marks usually fade to become white or silver. Early treatment generally offers the best opportunity for improvement, but even older stretch marks can often be made smoother, softer and less noticeable.

Sylfirm RF & Microneedling for Stretch Marks
One of our most effective treatments for stretch marks is Sylfirm RF combined with advanced microneedling.
Tiny sterile needles create controlled micro-channels in the skin while radiofrequency energy is delivered into the deeper layers of tissue. This stimulates the body’s natural healing response and encourages the production of new collagen, elastin fibres, hyaluronic acid, and other essential structural components that help support healthy skin.
As the skin repairs itself, stretch marks can become smoother, firmer, less indented, and better blended with the surrounding skin.
Sylfirm RF can be used on virtually any area affected by stretch marks, including the abdomen, hips, thighs, buttocks, breasts, and upper arms. A course of treatments is usually recommended for the best results, with gradual improvement continuing for several months as collagen remodelling takes place.

Exosome Therapy for Skin Regeneration
Stretch marks cannot usually be removed completely, but modern aesthetic treatments such as exosome therapy with microneedling can significantly improve skin texture, firmness, elasticity, colour, and smoothness.
Exosomes are tiny extracellular vesicles that contain growth factors, proteins and signalling molecules which help enhance cell multiplication and regeneration, collagen and elastin production and tissue repair.
When combined with microneedling, exosome therapy is effective in enhancing skin repair and rejuvenation.
Most clients see improvements in skin texture and tone a few weeks to months following treatment.

Medical Skin Peels for Stretch Marks
Professional skin peels can also help improve the appearance of stretch marks, particularly when the surrounding skin has become uneven in tone or texture.
At CJA Aesthetics, we use carefully selected medical-grade peels that work by exfoliating damaged surface cells and stimulating the renewal of healthier skin.
The benefits of skin peels for stretch marks include:
- Improves overall skin tone
- Refines skin texture
- Brightens dull or uneven skin
- Stimulates cell turnover
- Supports the penetration of active skin-rejuvenating ingredients.
Skin peels are often used as part of a combined treatment programme alongside Sylfirm RF and medical-grade skin care for enhanced results.

Prescription Treatments For Stretch Marks
The medical team at CJA Aesthetic Clinics may prescribe a topical retinol cream or vitamin-rich skin cream to help with your stretch marks - particularly if you have new marks that are red or purple.
Healthy skin requires the right nutrients to repair and regenerate effectively so we also offer topical creams that are high in Vitamins C and E, Ferulic Acid, Hyaluronic Acid and B Vitamins.
The right combinations can:
- Improve skin elasticity and firmness
- Deeply hydrate the skin
- Protect against oxidative stress
- Support healthier, stronger skin structure
Topical creams can be an excellent addition to a professional stretch mark treatment programme.
