A Facelift Without Pain or Recovery Time?

Is It Possible?  A Facelift Without Pain or Recovery Time? Top Cosmetics Doctor Chris Airey from CJA Aesthetics Clinic in Southampton Talks About PDO Thread Lifting

Have you ever looked into the mirror, pulled back your cheeks and thought ‘I’d like to look a little bit more like this?’

You’d be forgiven for assuming that the only solution (and probably a very expensive, drastic solution) would be a surgical facelift, right?

Here, we talk to Dr Chris Airey about a revolutionary, non-surgical treatment called the PDO thread lift, sometimes described as the ‘needle and thread’ facelift.

What is a PDO thread lift?

Dr Chris says: “In essence, a PDO thread lift treatment provides an immediate, visible lift and a long-lasting boost to the skin’s own collagen production with no painful downtime, no incisions, no scarring. My clients are astonished by the results and continue to enjoy its age-defying affects long after their treatment.”

What does a PDO thread lift treatment involve?

The patient is assessed and a type of PDO thread is selected to complement their skin laxity and to suit their requirements. Dr Chris offers two types of PDO thread treatment; mono-threads for a subtle anti-wrinkle collagen boost and COG threads for a natural looking lift to the cheeks and jawline.

Dr Chris explains: “This routine treatment usually lasts about half an hour. It’s almost completely painless as I use a local anaesthetic. Tiny soluble threads are introduced to the skin via a needle and then ‘pulled’ upwards, lifting the skin as they tighten.”

What are the immediate effects of a PDO thread facelift?

A PDO thread lift treatment provides an immediate lifting effect, effectively pulling the skin up and back toward the ears. It works fast – patients can review the results in a mirror straight after their treatment. Results are subtle and natural-looking.

As with any non-surgical injectable treatment, some patients experience slight bruising or swelling when the needle enters the skin. However, these mild symptoms usually quickly fade. There is no scarring or recovery time; patients are usually back-to-normal within 48 hours.

“My patients do take a little while to recover from the local anaesthetic but it’s no worse than the numbing you might experience after a dental treatment,” says Dr Chris.

What are the long-lasting effects of a PDO thread facelift?

This is what really sets the PDO thread facelift aside from other anti-ageing treatments. PDO threads are made of Polydioxanone, a soluble solution that is gradually absorbed by the skin.

he polydioxanone threads not only provide an instant ‘lift’ as mentioned before, but also stimulate the skin’s own production of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid, rejuvenating the appearance of the skin some 3 – 6 months after the treatment.

Dr Chris adds: “My patients experience an improvement in skin laxity, tone and dexterity that lasts up to eighteen months.”

Who is a PDO thread facelift suitable for?

A non-surgical facelift with PDO threads is most effective in patients aged between 35 and 65, but can also be beneficial for older clients depending on an assessment of their skin condition.  A PDO thread facelift can be used to tighten the skin around the face, neck and decolletage.

Is a thread lift treatment expensive?

In comparison with a surgical facelift, no – not at all. A non-surgical facelift with PDO threads with Dr Chris starts at £700. The price includes an after-care review appointment to ensure that the patient’s expectations have been met.

Dr Chris concludes: “I take enormous pride in my patients’ satisfaction. The results from my thread facelift treatments speak for themselves and my patients are absolutely delighted with the results.”
