Botox Anti-Wrinkle Injections & Treatments

We use Botox® which is a highly diluted form of the neurotoxin protein botulinum. A minuscule amount will be expertly injected into selected muscles to temporarily relax those muscles.

Botox is commonly used to inject the horizontal lines on the forehead, the frown lines between the eyebrows, and lines around the eyes.  It can also be administered to soften lines around the mouth, to raise the corners of the eyebrows, to elevate the corners of a downturned mouth, to improve the shape of the jawline and to soften the neck.

You may also have heard of the Nefertiti Facelift which enables us to improve the appearance of sagging jowls and a saggy or crepey neck using Botox injectables.

Botox is also an effective treatment for excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis) and can help people who suffer from headaches and migraines.

Most people have one treatment and return for a further treatment once it wears off between three and six months.

Discomfort is kept to a minimum and we can apply a topical anaesthetic cream before treatment, if required.

Most people see the full effect around 3-10 days after the first treatment.

Botulinum toxin type A was introduced in clinical practice in the 1970s and 1980s to treat squints and blepharospasm.  After formal trials, on April 12 2002, the FDA announced regulatory approval of botulinum toxin type A to temporarily improve the appearance of moderate-to-severe frown lines between the eyebrows (glabellar lines).

A small percentage of people may notice a slight droopiness of the eyelid or eyebrow but this should be back to normal within 2 weeks. Patients who are taking aspirin or NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) may experience slight bruising.
